Has the weather done a 180 on you this week with temperatures in the 70's one day and in the 40's the next? Has dinner become cold cereal and milk because no one else will cook and you're sick of doing it? Have you used the fluff cycle on the dryer more often than usual to "iron" your clothes this week? Or maybe you are starting Spring Break and can't wait to get started! Well tell me about it…in letter form of course. Write the who, what, when, where, and why of it all. Grab the button from my sidebar, and link up at the bottom. I look forward to your Letters of Intent!
Dear Baseball Game Schedule Maker,
I know you have a big job and there are only so many days in a week and you have a lot of games that must be played. However, scheduling 10 and 11 year olds for 7:45pm games that last 2 hours on a school night is out of line. Please explain to me how you rationalized keeping 4th and 5th graders up until 10 at night playing a baseball game when they have school the next day. I don't think you can rationalize it, because it is just not rational. I don't miss games, but I will be forced to this season. I have a seven year old who has an 8:00pm bedtime. I will not be keeping him up until almost 11:00pm on a school night because you deemed it appropriate to play these late games. And yes, it will be 11:00pm because you did not seem to realize that the coaches talk to the team after the game, the car must be loaded up with equipment, there is a 15 minute drive home, and a shower is all necessary before my ten year old can go to bed. You sir, need to take a serious look at Sunday afternoons and do some rescheduling. This is ridiculous.

Signed,
A furious mother.

Dear Followers/Lurkers/Visitors,
I think I have come to the decision to end the link-up to my LOI carnival soon. I will continue to write my letters and if you write letters I would love for you to let me know and I would love to come read them.
Signed,
The time has come.

I am always amazed how amazed the doctors are when they ask what time my kids go to bed. How many parents do they really see who think it's ok to keep kids up so late?!
Surely you aren't the only furious parent. Can you all get together to complain?
And Tara? I bet it is a LOT of parents who let their children stay up late with no set bed time. I can think of one at least one in my office right now; it's easier to let them stay up than enforcing a bedtime.
Wow, my kids would hate me because I would be jerking them off the team so fast! Although that would just hurt them and the team.... sigh....
I would be calling and complaining my head off though. I hope you can talk them into changing it!
It will be sad to see it go, but I will still write me letters ;-)
You know, Blaze has a later bedtime but we kind of set it that way because he has always been home with us. He goes to bed at 10:30 and gets up at 9:30 and takes a 2 hour nap from 2:30 till 4:30. He gets all his required sleep and I don't have to get up at the crack of dawn and he gets to spend time with Chris. BUt we are already changing it little by little so that when he starts kindergarten in the fall he will be on an earlier schedule for school. I can not believe that they scheduled younger children for late games like that. It makes no sense at all.
Dear Julie,
I guess the settings on my browser spell check everything. I had the mouse hovering over the text box for the above button and there is something in there for which Google would like to change the spelling to masturbatory. Never heard that term before myself although I'm quite sure I know what it means! Thought you, with your 4 boys, might find some humor in that!
Beth
I typed than out on my blog and then decided to post it here instead. It was in reference to the LoI button.
That would be too late of a game for kids that age even on the weekend in my opinion that is insane! Swtiosuly what were they thinking??
Seriously... We are having the same issue with Softball for both u8 and u12.....
and guess what else??? no Saturday games....Only Mon through Fri.....and we paid for this..and we travel this year... so some of these games are at least a half hour away... Geesh!
That is way too late for elementary kids. I'm sorry you feel like you need to end LoI. Please don't take it personally when people don't participate. There are all sorts of reasons why it just doesn't happen that have nothing to do with you or your blog! Can you maybe release your expectations and continue the link whether we join you or not since you will still write the letters anyway? I love you and hate that this is hurting your heart!
Ugh, that is ridiculous! I'm sure you aren't the only concerned parent. I definitely would be! I hope the schedule gets changed for the good of all the children, whether it suits the adults or not! :P
I am glad to hear you plan to keep writing your LOIs whether anyone else does or not. They are brilliant! :)
Oh I totally agree the kids need to be in bed at 8:00. I am in bed by 9:00 myself! I hope this can be resolved.
That is nuts! The teams here have late games like that too... fortunately my kids are not coordinated enough and/or not interested enough to play sports. LOL. We did do the soccer thing when Bub was itty bitty, but we only had Saturday games. Even so, the practice schedule was ridiculous and the games on Saturday were right in the middle of the day. Not my favorite.
I would be furious too............
My brother always had really late hockey practices, because it was the only time they could get the ice. And? The nearest rink was 30 minutes away, so we were out late 2-3 nights a week sometimes. No wonder I was a crabby kid!
I don't blame you for being annoyed. No way would I keep my kids up at 11 either. Not even on a NON school night. I need my quiet time.
That is nuts. Just nuts. Thankful that our tball coach is Itty Bit's big brother, so we don't have to worry about crazy late games.
And don't quite LOI! (I know... says the woman whose TST is on an extended hiatus)... I know how it feels when you don't get many linkups for the work it takes to put the linky up. Sorry. I am just so exhausted by Thursday night - and there is no time for me to try to bang one out Friday morning. Sorry I have been a bad LOI friend. :(
We quite baseball last year and late nights were the biggest reason. My boys were playing tball {that means 4,5 & 6 year olds} and some of their games didn't start until 8! The games were only an hour long, but my boys go to bed at 8! We did football it the fall and soccer now and both of them only have games on Saturday mornings:)
