Project 52. 8/52

project 52 p52 weekly photo challenge my3boybarians.com

This week’s theme: Cabin Fever

In S. Central TX the words “cabin fever” don’t have a whole lot of meaning.  In the last week we saw temperatures hit 87 degrees and have been loving every minute of beautiful weather before we have heat so putrid that you want to claw your eyes out.  Our summer weather is met with the same distaste that northerners despise their winter.

However, we went for a 2nd round of a Travel Channel TX road trip this weekend.  It seems to me that eating your way through cabin fever would be perfectly logical.  So while last week brought us donuts the size of our heads, this weekend brought us pizza the size of a truck tire.  It.was.huge.  To avoid being gluttons we bought the reasonable 37 inch pizza, rather than the 42 inch, 30 POUND behemoth.  Yup, we’re conservative like that.

37 inch pizza

Need some perspective as to just how big that 37 inch pizza really is?  It took up the entire back of our SUV with the 3rd row seats down.

perspective

I did not shoot in manual for this adventure.  Eating is a serious sport in my family and if I don’t move quickly then the moment will be gone.  There’s not a whole lot of patience when food is involved.  Besides, my camera has a preset function for photographing food that works beautifully.

Work keeps getting in the way of blogging.  I hope to have both posts written and published about our road trips this week.  Stay tuned!

Seeing the picture on my phone did NOT do this pizza justice (the screen is too small)!

But I have to know - did it taste as good as it looks?

Darn it....now I'm craving pizza....got any leftovers? ;-)

I guess everything really is bigger in Texas! I'm envisioning a whole blog series based on your trips to Texas food destinations... I'm sure Nolan and Jakob would be only too happy to assist you!

My word, I still can't get over that pizza. What the heck kind of oven do they cook that in? It sure does look good.

I love that y'all are doing the Travel Channel excursions! Great family memories for those kiddos. :)

Okay that is insane!! But sure does look good!

Totally fine shooting in auto - FYI if your shutter speed is at least 1/500 you will freeze any food action-- even 1/250 would work. I never try and shoot below 1/100 unless I am shooting something that never moves.
