Project 52. 7/52

project 52 p52 weekly photo challenge my3boybarians.com

This week’s theme: True Love

I had a shot all set up in my mind for this week’s theme.  And then I watched the Travel Channel with my husband this morning and immediately declared, “Road Trip!!!”  We drove 1.5 hours to buy a donut the size of a basketball.  Was it worth it?  Absolutely.

nolan eating donut picnik

This shot was taken in “P” mode (whatever that means.)  I wanted to shoot in manual, but I am still very slow about finding the right settings.  My seven year old was not going to be slow about eating that donut so I threw it in “P” and hoped for the best.  It came out way to light so I had to bump up the color.

Tips and hints on how to improve this are very welcome!

He may as well have been the only living person on earth! I love the expression on his eyes! Is this SOOC? The colors make it look styled. Just had a peak around your blog. It's awesome you love having four boy. I have a friend who has four boys too and she wouldn't have it any other way. Blessings.

I don't think I have ever seen a donut that big in my life! I think that thing could feed a family of four! Or one for a week! I love the expression on his face too. Awesome photo!
Thanks for visiting my blog!! Hope you come back soon!

What a great shot, the expression is priceless :-)
I so agree with you for wanting tips for improvement, I always would want to hear improvement ideas for my shots. You should check out Kim Young's new photo challenge "Photo Feedback" (at momtriedit.net), #2 challenge goes out tomorrow on Monday. The idea is to give constructive and honest feedback on the participating photos.
Giving improvement ideas about this picture: you're right about it being a bit too light, especially around the face. How about darkening the highlighted areas, you can do this easily for example in Photoshop Elements? -PSE is the love of my life :-)

Oh My Goodness! I have never seen a doughnut that big. You captured the expression of delight on his face perfectly. Is the donut shop local or a chain?
Does P stand for portrait on your camera? That would explain the soft blur of the background. Perhaps your concern is related to the flash of the camera in the confines of the car?

Love the expression on his little face - it speaks volumes.

That photo is priceless! If you put a chocolate covered doughnut that size in front of me, I probably would have the same expression on my face!!

You have GOT to tell us where that came from! And the whole story that goes with it! Come on, I'm practically writing your next post for you... :)

I would probably have the exact same look on my face as Nolan does if I ever met a donut that big... Actually, that's the look I get when I meet pretty much any donut! ;)

Yum yum yum!!

Now that is a donut! Holy cow! P is portrait or "people" mode- so good for taking pictures of people. Looks like your exposure was just to bright when you took it-- just watch the little bar and make sure it is in the middle when shooting- even in P mode.

I want that donut!

We do stuff like that too. If we see something on The Travel Channel and it's close, we go.

I think that pic is awesome...and so is that donut! We saw that same episode with the big donuts a few weeks ago and my boys are begging to go there on our trip. I can't remember when it was though:)
